Landing a new job, especially in this market, ain't easy. There's tons of competition and not a lot of openings. But the University of Montana is looking to fill one high-profile position that you may be interested in: Athletics Director, Intercollegiate Athletics.

As you may have heard, oh, everywhere, there's a bit of a dark cloud hanging over UM and its most popular sports team. Just this week the Department of Justice arrived to conduct interviews on campus as part of an investigation into more than 500 sexual assaults over the last four years. According to the Missoulian, this investigation is being coordinated with another federal agency, the Department of Education, which is looking into "allegations of harassment by members of the UM football team." A third investigation being conducted by the NCAA is also focused on the football team.

All of which underscores some of the "Required Skills" included in the AD job posting:

- Commitment to academic excellence, the personal success of student athletes, and athletic excellence
- Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA regulations and Title IX
- Ability to effectively represent the University on and off campus and to articulate the needs of the University and Intercollegiate Athletics

The last required skill, though, may be most important for whomever gets the job:

- Proven record of building strong relationships with various groups including alumni, donors, fans and friends of the University

There are just a few relationships in need of mending.

If you're interested in applying, screening of applications begins July 18.
