Why you're here: Because you're coming to grips with your alcohol problem. The Fourth D Alano Club of Missoula provides support, serving as a meeting place for 12-step recovery groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous.
Atmosphere: The club keeps a low profile, even though it's on West Broadway, where Knuckleheads BBQ used to be. All the blinds are drawn. When you walk inside, you find a table full of literature about alcohol abuse and recovery. There's a large meeting room and computer stations. On a recent morning, a man is drinking coffee. A woman greets me and declines to talk about the club with a reporter.
Mission: The club's purpose, according to its website, is to allow alcoholics to "share their experiences and gain strength and hope from each other in their common endeavor to achieve and maintain a life free from the use of alcohol...and other mind-altering substances."
"Fourth Dimension": Bill Wilson, an AA co-founder, supposedly dabbled in LSD when searching for a cure for his alcoholism, which might help to explain his quote on the club's website: "We have found much of heaven and we have been rocketed into a fourth dimension of existence of which we had not even dreamed."
How to find it: 450 West Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Owen Street.
