With ancient cedars measuring up to eight feet in diameter and standing nearly 200 feet high, the Ross Creek Cedars scenic area is a magical place for travelers to stretch their legs. A one-mile scenic trail weaves through the trees, and several picnic tables nestle near the creek for a tranquil lunch spot.
To get there, follow state Highway 56 to the vicinity of Bull Lake. Look for a paved road just south of the lake that heads west from the highway and follow it four miles to the parking area. Be advised that it's a tight squeeze up the road through the forest, so people towing large trailers might want to leave them at the convenient parking area near the highway.
