This Montana medical marijuana garden was photographed just before the fall harvest. Although state law authorizes the garden’s caretaker (lower center, waving) and others to grow the crop, federal law still considers the plant a dangerous drug with no medicinal value. Medical marijuana advocates provided this photograph to the Independent on the condition of anonymity.

As a patient, I know exactly what medical marijuana can do to improve my life. Prior to I148 being passed, I would spend approximately $1800 per month on prescribed medications (copay only. My insurance covered the other $110,000). Lortab, Soma, Demoral... you name it and I was taking it. I did not enjoy the side effects (constipation, nausea, insomnia) let alone the fact that I was still in pain! Fast forward to post I148: I do not take a single pharmaceutical medication. I do smoke medical marijuana regularly; but all of the side effects, and money given to me by those gracious pharmacies are now gone. Thank you to the voters who passed I-148! Thank you to the doctors who are not afraid! Thank you to the caregivers who supply this medical wonder!

As a patient caregiver I commenend these growers for thier continual support for the seriously ill people of thier community. It is patriots like this that will eventually change these arcane laws. board member patients & Families United

It's too bad that this "Healing Herb" is still outlawed by the federal government. What the good doctor in Missoula, Lester Grinspoon said is entirely true. He said that if Marijuana were just now being discovered it would be touted as a "Miracle Drug" Wow! A Miracle Drug. Whoever grew this beautiful garden should receive the Medal of Valor or some other award for going above and beyond for growing Medicinal Marijuana for sick and dying people that might otherwise not get relief from their illnesses. I feel sure that this is one of the main plants growing in the "Garden of Eden" AMEN

Being a patient of medical marijuana I can truly say it is by far better for the human body than the pills Dr's try to peddle and convince you they are going to help. Pills by far mess up the body. Medicinal Marijuana is a wonder herb, look in the PDR. it states, "an herb". God gave it to us for a purpose, not to classify it as a "dangerous drug". Hey just go to the bar have a couple shots to relieve your pain, get into your car, and if you are very lucky you won't kill yourself or someone's loved one on your way home! Wake & see the LIGHT! Blessings to all you patients!
