Best of Missoula

Well, Missoula, you certainly know how to do an encore. After making our 2009 Best of Missoula issue the biggest in the paper’s history—a hefty 96 pages covering 160 different categories—you managed to outdo yourself in 2010. The 16th annual Best of Missoula issue weighs in with even more pages and, somehow, more categories. That means you’re holding the biggest single story this paper has ever published, roughly 17,000 words of pure celebration of the place we call home.

Don’t feel compelled to read it all in one sitting. Take a week. Take a month. Take it on your summer vacation instead of that trashy paperback. We hope this is the type of issue you let linger under the coffee table for the whole year, readily available whenever you need to remind yourself of the best this city has to offer—like when you really need to know things like who won Best Lawyer.

But before you jump in, a quick reminder: We’re not done celebrating just yet. As we’ve done the last three years, we’re hosting a Best of Missoula party tonight, July 8, at Caras Park. We’ll have music from Best Band winner Tom Catmull and the Clerics and finalist Secret Powers, as well as food, drinks and a mechanical surfboard. It’s free, and you’re all invited. It’s the least we can do for your help in making this annual celebration the biggest yet.
