Lost in the chaos of the 2012 gubernatorial race
and the national profile
of the Tester/Rehberg showdown for U.S. Senate is the battle for Montana's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Democratic candidate Dave Strohmaier, a current member of the Missoula City Council, received a boost to his campaign last weekend when famous Hollywood actor and UM alum JK Simmons took a few minutes out of a busy Homecoming weekend to offer his endorsement.
"Before my career in film and television, I lived in Montana," explains Simmons in the video
below. "I graduated from the University of Montana. I live in California now, but I have a lot of friends in Montana and my parents still live in Missoula, and their well-being is very important to me. That's why I urge you to vote for Dave Strohmaier to be Montana's lone representative in the United States Congress.
"His platforms on equality, community, infrastructure, and stewardship convince me that he will be an outstanding representative for this great state we all love."
Strohmaier is running in the Democratic primary against state Rep. Franke Wilmer of Bozeman, state Sen. Kim Gillan of Billings, and attorney Rob Stutz. Steve Daines is expected to win the Republican primary.
